How do I remove lead paint? If you live a decent sized suburban area, the your housing or zoning office will have detailed instructions on how this is to be done. Some places have strict laws and may even require a contractor with a special license to do the removal. Problem areas with lead paint are often windows and doorways, as the friction causes lead paint dust. In other less trafficed spots, painting over will sometimes take care of the problem.
